Sourcecodester.com Moved To a New Dedicated Server, Again

Last August 6, 2011, we announced that we have migrated to a dedicated server at Hostgator. As you may know, we started by just having a shared hosting at Hostgator, then move to a dedicated server to serve you better.
This is our history in building a great site:
- Hostgator Shared Hosting = Baby Plan ($95.64/year)
- Hostgator VPS Hosting = Level 6 ($129.95/month)
- Hostgator Dedicated Servers = Basic Dedicated Server ($174/month)
- Hostgator Dedicated Servers = Standard Dedicated Server ($219/month)
- Hostgator Dedicated Servers = Elite Dedicated Server ($279/month)
Last month, we experienced again a spike of traffic and seem that our current server cannot handle the work load. So we decided again to upgrade our server. At first, we’re considering of upgrading to Hostgator Pro Dedicated Server, which will cost us $374/month. But before we get to our final decision, we search for an alternative. We later found out that some competitors are offering a much lower price with powerful server compare to Hostgator.
The first hosting company that we consider is www.ovh.com located in Canada. After searching about reviews of existing and previous customer of ovh, we found out that they don’t offer much support compare to Hostgator. So, we look again for another alternative.

Out of 9 companies, we decided to choose ServerMania. ServerMania offers the best price plus they have a good reputation for the past years. According to WebHostingTalk.com (forum), ServerMania has a positive review from their existing customer, even those who migrated to other hosting due to some personal reasons.
By the time that we bought the server from ServerMania, they are offering a promo that cost only $109 for their middle edge dedicated server. The regular price for this server is $157.00 based on the specs that we used.
So why is it that most of the hosting companies above are too cheap compare to Hostgator? It’s because that they are unmanaged, meaning that you are responsible for your own server. If something happens to your server, like a software failure, you will be the one to fix it. Unlike in Hostgator, they will do it for you, since they are offering a managed service.
