Drivers Got Delayed Due To A Computer Glitch At DFW Airport Again

This has happened for the second time in a week that the traffic woes were caused due to a computer glitch at DFW (Dallas/ Fort Worth) Airport. This happened on Monday when the new automated system installed on airport was not accepting and registering the toll tag transactions. The issue was addressed and fixed but the system was not working at its best as it was causing a delay of 10-15 minutes. This was reported by Cynthia Vega who is airport spokeswoman. The technical staff of airport was busy troubleshooting the problem on Wednesday afternoon and the rest of the staff was at the toll spot helping the drivers to get their tolls collected. The problem was finally identified by 6PM and it was addressed too. However the cause of the problem is still unknown, Vega said. This happened on the north exit. According to Vega, the same system is installed at the south exit but it didn’t experience any kind of problems on Monday or Wednesday. “On Monday, the system was not reading the toll tags,” Vega said. She also added, “Our IT guys reached on time to solve the issue and they were successful in it but afterwards, we are facing another problem.” “We noticed that there was some problem in the system that was causing it to slow down. The transactions were taking a lot of time to process whether they were made in cash, by credit card or toll tag.” The problems started occurring when the new automated parking system went online during last month. The airport had to pay $77,000 to the customers whose cars were not identified by the system while leaving the parking spot. This could have caused due to some programming glitch or there could be a hardware failure involved but nothing can be said with certainty unless the real reason is exposed.
