Developers Gained Insight to GitHub Traffic Analytics Service

One of the most popular code sharing site repositories the GitHub, announced its newest GitHub Traffic Analytics service which enables to determine and identify which content users are viewing, as well as to what repositories specifically they came from. Head Marketing of GitHub Brian Doll said, "Now, when you have a project on GitHub, you also get to see how many people are visiting your repositories everyday and where they are coming from, where they hear about your project," and he also added "You might find your project is being talked about on a public forum, and that's interesting to you has a developer." In regard with this, 451 Research Analyst Micheal Cote believed "Before GitHub, most of the community around code was pretty faceless: It was just forum posts, not really passive users and lurkers around the code." Cote also added on his statement, "With things like this and GitHub as a whole, developers can get a better sense for who's interested in their work." With this type of project implemented for GitHub as repositories for source code, developers would be aware with the number of viewers entering their sites and to what part users are interested in, which will also give developers a reason to stay close and get connected with each other by means of interaction.
