How to increase your income in the internet

Wondering why some are very successful as computer programmer? To define a “successful programmer” is to consider him/her as having numerous clients whether on the internet or on his/her vicinity.

But how they did it? In my years of experience if you want to find more clients you really have to advertise yourself if you’re just beginning. Well, there are so many different ways on how to advertise your expertise. In my case, when I started my programming career I look for students who are willing to outsource their thesis writing, not the documentary, to create a computer program that will support their thesis during defense.

Another way is to tell your friends or whoever you know. You can also advertise on your local newspaper. You will notice that after a year or two a lot of clients will go after you.

How about the internet? How can you find a client? Before, I tried to sign up to different website like elance, rentacoder, getacoder, etc. to find clients. But I found out that it’s very hard to win a bid.

There’s already a lot of programmer who signs up and struggle to find one. I even notice that some are using a false portfolio just to be hired by advertiser (buyer). And if you don’t have a single review it is also very impossible to win a bid.

After months of posting my bid to any project I like and failed I stop doing it. Until I start submitting my programs to any website that host free source code. Then I received an enormous email asking if I can help them with their project.

I remember when I am just a student and learning how to program for fun. I do not even think that my hobby in computer programming will lead me to my career. Same is true with finding a client. All you have to do is to share your source code. A source code that is useful to everybody.

If I did not share my code and just keep it after doing it for one client then may be my income did not increase. This happen to me before when I am thinking of keeping my source code because of days and nights of programming.

But believe me. Just share your code and if somebody will notice your good coding they will not hesitate to hire you. Beware though that you will be paid for it.

On my next article, I will explain to you on how other programmer earn money thru sharing of their source code.
