Redesigned Yahoo Email Looks More Like Gmail

If you regularly use Yahoo email for personal or business purpose, you must have noticed some of the changes that have been made in the design of your email client. Yahoo got its first make over in the beginning of 2013 and recently, they again redesigned the interface of Yahoo email client. The first redesign had people saying, “it looks pretty much like Gmail” but after the recent design upgrade, people are shouting, “Hey, this is the exact copy of Gmail”. While it must be accepted that the redesign of Yahoo mail is not an exact copy of Gmail, many parts of the design suggest otherwise. Yahoo and Gmail becoming so familiar makes sense too as the Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer is the same person who was behind the design of Gmail when she was working for Google Inc. There was a time when Yahoo mail was more frequently used by people but since the launch of Gmail, around a decade ago, people started using it because it offered them a clean and user friendly interface. Just like Gmail, Yahoo email has started threading the same topic emails in cascade manner. It really helps you stay on topic and read the previous conversation in order to relate with it. Yahoo has also introduced “conversation view” the same feature that was first introduced by Gmail in 2004. However, if you don’t like the conversation tool, you can simply turn it off. Another design update allows the users to decorate their inbox with pictures (themes in case of Gmail). However, the positive edge for Yahoo here is that, its users can choose the pictures from Yahoo’s picture sharing services like Flickr. The background image of Yahoo email client is automatically synced with the mobile phone app of Yahoo email as well. It means, if you change the background image of your Yahoo Email on desktop, it will automatically be set as a background image on your smartphone app as well.
