computer programming -- creating a sequence of instructions to enable the computer to do something

And we computer programmer study and learn on how to create this program to help others to make their jobs/work fast (e.g. point of sales, library system, etc)

i want t create that backup application,i dont know how to do this?
plz sirhelp me n tell me all steps to devlop backup application

need a backup program developed in Visual Basic 6.0 with the following specifikations/functions.

- Userfriendly GUI

- User can select multiple folders to backup.

- Destination can be changed, but default is a folder named "backup" on the root of the drive, from which the backup program is located.

- User can select to override all or only override older files if backup files allready exists at the destination.

- User can set mask for filetypes to include in backup. Default is *.*, but multiple filetypes can be selected by enteringer something like: "*.jpg;*.png;*.gif" etc.

- User should be able to select if the backup program should "auto start" the backup when the program is started, or if the program should show the "configuration-screen" where folders can be selected and settings changed.

- The program should add a "tray icon" to windows, with the following options:
- Run Backup (performs backup of the selected folders)
- Open Configuration (lets user select folders to backup and set settings)
- Exit Backup Program (close/exit the backup program)

- All settings described above should be saved in a "ini file" placed at the same location as the backup program.

what is the use of computer programming? could you answer me plss? i am a student of this field but i do not know what is the real use of this.
